2008: the early beginnings

Architect Eve Van Dyck and designer Thierry Donnay are renovating an old hotel restaurant in the Belgian Ardennes dating from the year 1850, La Maison Blanche. While working they become fascinated with all the vintage porcelain switches, sockets and lamp holders. One specific lamp holder catches their eye for its design and simplicity. After an unsuccessful search for a similar model on the market, they get inspired by this porcelain lamp holder to create a lamp that emulates the design of its period but also meets nowadays' electrical standards.

The tone is thus set. Eve and Thierry start designing various other models in porcelain: rosettes, lamp holders, sockets, ceiling lamps... and in the process the brand zangra was created. zangra then quickly becomes a distributor of technical porcelain. Alongside other porcelain manufacturers throughout Europe, they decide to re-launch specific models that had been out of production for decades, but for which they still had moulds to work from. Starting 2010, zangra has been expanding its line of products (bathroom accessories, porcelain hardware, home items) always bearing in mind the same philosophy: to search for simple and authentic functional products. With time zangra has specialized in supplying decorative objects and lighting for hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and public spaces.
