Serax August Lounge Chair

Designed by Vincent Van Duysen for Serax, the August Lounge Chair in Sand embodies a philosophy of restraint and refinement. Part of the August outdoor furniture collection, it draws its inspiration from the monastic simplicity of a former military hospital in Antwerp, which Van Duysen transformed into a hotel. The result is a design stripped down to its essence, yet shaped with contemporary proportions that feel both grounded and effortless.

Crafted from powder-coated aluminium, the lounge chair is fully weatherproof, making it equally at home on a sun-drenched terrace or within a minimalist interior. Its slightly curved seat and back, paired with additional support on the armrests, are engineered for optimum comfort without compromising the collection's clean, sculptural lines. The wider, lower proportions reflect a modern-day approach to relaxed seating, offering a sense of ease that suits both quiet mornings and long evenings outdoors.

Measuring 64 cm in length, 60 cm in width, and 70 cm in height, and weighing 9.25 kg, the chair is substantial yet easy to move as needed. It is intended for outdoor use, though its refined aesthetic transitions seamlessly indoors. For added comfort, matching outdoor seat cushions are available separately.

As with many Serax designs, pieces from the August collection are finished by hand, meaning slight variations may occur — a natural mark of authenticity rather than imperfection. A quiet, architectural addition to any outdoor setting, this lounge chair captures Van Duysen's signature ability to merge history, comfort, and modern design into a single, timeless object.
