Santa & Cole Comodín Wall Lamp

In the 1980s, Santa & Cole re-introduced the usage of warm natural materials like parchment, ribbon, etc. In 1994, Santa and Cole team created a series of lamps with cotton and ribbon shades. These lamps were a sight to behold even when switched off. They had a rich, natural appeal despite their simple design. One among those was the Santa & Cole Comodin Wall Lamp. In Spanish, Comodinrefers to a wildcard – a playing card whose value, suit, color, or other properties in a game are decided by the player holding it. Similarly, Santa & Cole Comodin Wall Lamp has a customizable shape, color, and texture, which is decided by the user and hence the name.

The lamp is a slightly curved square or rectangular structure made of ribbon or parchment. The curve hides the light source and offers space from the wall to accommodate the lamp holder and a base plate, both chrome-plated structures. The base plate can be directly mounted on the junction box and is easy to install and maintain. Though the design is minimalist, the lamp is available in a variety of natural and mixed colors. The light directly travels upward and downward and is diffused slightly by the thin ribbon, offering a warm, glare-free illumination. The lamp is made of carefully selected raw materials and is hand-made. The parchment has stitches that portray the simplicity and accentuate the aesthetics of the design. It is suitable for hallways, corridors, and other small spaces that require bright illumination.
