Gubi SW50 Sofa 4-Seater Fully Upholstered

GUBI SW50 Sofa brings a quietly architectural presence to any interior. Designed by Illum Wikkelsø in 1959 and now reintroduced by GUBI in its original four-seater format, the sofa reflects a more restrained side of the Danish designer's celebrated body of work. Long horizontal proportions, a visible wooden structure, and a light, open expression define its character, balancing structural clarity with genuine comfort.

The design is built around a continuous wooden base that visually anchors the piece while lifting it gently from the floor. Above this frame, the upholstered cushions appear almost suspended, creating a composition rooted in rhythm and balance. The contrast between the exposed wood and the softness of the upholstery gives the SW50 its distinct identity: architectural without feeling rigid, and warm without becoming heavy. A slightly upright seating position encourages conversation and social interaction, while the slender, open construction allows the sofa to sit lightly within a room.

The wooden structure is crafted from FSC®-certified oiled oak and wood from other responsible sources (FSC® C176589), reinforcing the sofa's calm, honest material expression. This edition comes fully upholstered in GUBI's Harp fabric in the 24 Ivory colourway, a soft off-white bouclé that lets the oak frame stand out.
