Gubi Silk Lantern Wall Lamp

The Silk Lantern Wall Lamp by Gubi is a refined lighting design by Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen, first conceived in 1951 and shown at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition, yet never brought into production until now. Rendered in silk, wood, and steel, it merges Japanese-inspired lightness with the clarity and craftsmanship of Danish modernism, offering a soft, atmospheric glow that transforms any wall into a quiet focal point.

At its core is a shade crafted from 100% natural silk, which diffuses light into an intimate interplay of brightness and shadow. This textile is framed above and below by rings of FSC®-certified walnut veneer (FSC® C176589), lending warmth and natural texture to the design. A lacquered steel structure completes the piece, giving it definition and a subtly floating appearance on the wall.

Part of a wider lighting family that also includes floor and pendant versions, the Silk Lantern carries its cylindrical shade and material logic across each scale, while the wall lamp brings this sculptural sensitivity into more compact, versatile settings. It is available with a natural white silk shade and a black semi-matt base finish, item no. 10151165.
