Gubi Lotus Table Lamp

Reintroduced by GUBI after more than 50 years out of production, the Lotus Table Lamp is a masterwork by Carlo Nason that fuses the peak of Murano glassmaking with a timeless artistic vision. Originally designed in 1969, it reflects Nason's fascination with form, light, and experimentation, along with his ambition to push the boundaries of both convention and material possibility.

Crafted from four nested layers of mouth-blown glass, the lamp takes its name from its layered, flower-like silhouette, evoking the poetic beauty of a lotus in bloom. Each shade element is produced using the mouth-blown ‘pulegoso’ glass technique, resulting in a varied, semi-opaque texture that enhances depth and light diffusion. As a hand-crafted object, every Lotus Table Lamp is a one-off creation, with subtle variations in thickness, curvature, and light diffusion that preserve the natural character of the glass.

The multiple layers of glass conceal the bulb entirely, transforming light into a soft, ambient glow that brings calm and atmospheric depth to any space. The lamp is available with a bubble glass shade and a black chrome base, a pairing that highlights the interplay between industrial precision and organic craftsmanship.

Carlo Nason (1935–2026) was born in Murano into one of its oldest glassmaking families, producing more than 1,000 objects over five decades and establishing himself as one of the most prolific names in mid-century Italian glass design. The Lotus Table Lamp, created in 1969, remains a defining testament to his curiosity for material and his lasting contribution to Murano's craft heritage.
