Gubi Démon Shelf
Détails du produit
Gubi Démon Shelf is a modular shelving system designed in 1954 by Mathieu Matégot, conceived as part of his original "plan d'exécution de la bibliothèque" — a sketch for a home library and study once referred to as the "Biblio-Démon." Rooted in mid-century design principles, this storage solution brings a considered architectural rhythm to any wall, combining sculptural presence with genuine everyday function.
Built as a versatile system, the Démon Shelf can be configured to suit a wide range of homes and spatial needs, offering that extra layer of aesthetic refinement to wall-based storage. It is available with 1, 3, 4 or 5 shelves, allowing for compositions that range from a compact single unit to an expansive, gallery-like display spanning multiple tiers. Three widths are offered: 95 cm and 155 cm on two brackets, and 215 cm on three brackets, giving further flexibility to adapt the piece to narrow hallways, generous living rooms or dedicated study spaces alike.
The Démon Shelf is available in three finishes: Oak, Black Stained Ash and American Walnut, each with a semi-matt lacquered surface that highlights the natural grain while ensuring durability over time. This selection of materials allows the piece to integrate seamlessly into both warm, traditional interiors and cooler, contemporary settings.
True to Matégot's original vision, the Démon Shelf remains as relevant today as it was upon its creation — a functional sculpture for books, objects and personal collections, and a lasting addition to Gubi's celebrated design heritage.
